Another basic one that could be important - When I record at say sample rate, does the audio captured have a certain bit depth? Anyway the important thing I'm trying to see is - when importing audio into a Logic Project, does Logic convert the imported file. If I browse the files folder of my project, can I right click on each one and verify the Bit Depth?

If you'd recorded at a higher rate such as for example 96kHz, your converters' clock would have been under more stress to run the clock at double the speed and chances are the clock would have created more jitter, resulting in more distortion in your recordings.

Aliasing is created during the conversion a the not so good audio interface do these still exist today? Or it's created thru plugins with poor "code". Aliasing are the frequencies above half the frequency Nyquist frequency of the sample rate frequency, "mirrored" back into the audible range. So, what you would need are signals, that go above 22kHz if you work with For converters: An analog audio signal above that. For plugins: Don't know exactly, but one thing could be if they sample up internally and then again down to the original rate, in a "bad" way.

Another thing are software isntruments. In that case you can test it by playing a very high note, like C8 or higher. Frequencies that are now above the Nyquist frequency will now be mirrored back.

Maybe there are also other causes for aliasing from plugins, I don't know of. So, to take out aliasing artifacts, you'd need to filter them out hicut , but then you'd also would filter the original signal. And, usually signals clearly below the Nyquist frequency shouldn't have any aliasing but who knows how badly plugins can be coded. I'm not sure, if what you think is aliasing, is really aliasing. With nowadays plugins and converters you can neglect this effect.

Maybe aliasing cannot be completely avoided, but at least I think it's not worth to bother about it anymore. I guess you talk about something else, although I'm, by all means, no expert.
